Before setting up your range extender, you must find a suitable place for extender setup between your router (whose network you have to extend) and the wireless dead zone area. Connecting your amped wireless range extender:

  • Attach the included antenna to the Amped wireless range extender.
  • Plug your amped wireless range extender to a power outlet, the extender will be automatically turned on.
  • You will now be able to easily find a new Wi-Fi network i.e. amped wireless range extender’s Wi-Fi network displayed in the list. Click on Connect.
  • A prompt screen would appear asking “do you want to set up your network?” You must select “No, just connect” for connecting to the network without setting up the extender.

Accessing the web based setup page/ Dashboard of the amped wireless range extender:

  • Open any web browser like Chrome or Safari of the latest version for Amped wireless range extender login using the setup.ampedwireless.com login.
  • Enter the web address for default login setup.ampedwireless.com in the address bar of the web browser to access the Dashboard of the amped wireless range extender after login.

Setting up Extended Network with Amped wireless range extender:

  1. On the Amped wireless range extender’s dashboard, Click on Scan to search for networks available to be extended.
  2. Select the network from the displayed list that you have to extend using the amped wireless range extender.
  3. Check that your Wi-Fi network that you chose to extend has a signal strength of 70% or greater than 70% for connection to be more reliable.
  4. Note: Try to move and place your Amped wireless Range Extender closer to the router’s Wi-Fi network that you are trying to extend and then, click on RESCAN. Connect to the Wi-Fi network depending upon the results page displaying the signal strength coming from each specific network detected.
  5. Enter the security key/passphrase for your existing wireless network if your home network has an enabled security key and then, click on Next.
  6. Assign a new wireless network name/SSID and the passphrase for your extended network. You can also skip assigning a new name by clicking on Clone Settings to use the same security key and a similar Network ID of your Home wireless network.
  7. Let the connection complete, following which the setup wizard will automatically redirect you to the next page to connect to the new extended network.
  8. Note: during the connection countdown process, your Amped wireless range extender will reboot and you will be disconnected from the Wi-Fi connection.
  9. Reconnect your computer to the new extended network by Amped wireless range extender using the new wireless settings.
  10. Follow the onscreen instructions to connect to the Extended Network and confirm the connection when prompted to and click on Next.
  11. The Amped wireless range extender setup process is then completed and you have successfully configured your Range extender wireless settings to enjoy extended network.

What to do when unable to connect to home network/ when connection fails to be extended?

Try the following troubleshooting steps to for accessing the home network to be extended:

  1. Ensure that your Home Network wireless security settings which you are trying to connect to are correct.
  2. Also, ensure that a signal strength of 70% or greater is received on your home network to be extended. The signal strength is less than 70%, move your amped Range Extender closer to your router on home network and then try to connect to it again when the required signal strength is achieved.
  3. You must check that you have enabled DHPC server on your Home Network router for accessing its wireless security settings by assigning the IP address to the Range Extender for wireless network connection.
  4. Change the Home Network router channel to a higher channel number (5-11) and try to run the Smart Wizard again to connect to the home network router wireless.
  5. Check the Internet connection across your Home Network Wi-Fi router and connect directly to your Home Network Wi-Fi router having an internet access and retry connection through setup wizard by scan.
  6. Try to reboot your Amped wireless range extender by unplugging the Range Extender from the power outlet and then plug it back again. Ensure that the connection is established after rebooting of the extender as some network connections may be very slow and take longer than the allotted time for the amped wireless range Extender to successfully connect.

Amped wireless range extender Upgrade – Firmware upgrade | amped wireless setup

Amped Wireless regularly releases new updates for the firmware for all of its products in an effort to improve their functioning and performance and their user experiences.

To download the updated firmware version, check the Downloads page on setup.ampedwireless.com or amped wireless official support site for your product on the regular basis to see if there are any available updates.

Download the firmware file with updated version as a zip file from the Support Webpage link on the left or by visiting setup.ampedwireless.com. Save the file on your computer to be uploaded while the manual firmware upgrade process.

Amped wireless range extender Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS)

WPS is a Wi-Fi feature that makes the Wi-Fi setup and configuration protected and quite simple and easy using the WPS button, also called as one touch setup or Wi-Fi Protected Setup. You can connect your amped wireless range extender by enabling the WPS setup through push button. You can connect to your Amped wireless range extender’s Wi-Fi using the following steps:

  1. Connect the Amped wireless range extender to the power supply and place it near your existing home network router.
  2. Let the amped wireless extender get stable.
  3. Hold and push down the WPS button on your amped wireless range extender for about 3 seconds and within next few seconds, also, repeat the process on router by press the WPS button located on home network router.

Note: The WPS button should be pushed on the home network router device within the stipulated time of two seconds for establishing successful connection.

  1. The WPS status LEDs on both the amped wireless range extender and the home network router will blink following the connection and will get stable after blinking for few seconds.
  2. A separate wireless / Wi-Fi network will be broadcasted after the amped range extender and the router are connected.
  3. Assign a new wireless network name/SSID and the passphrase for your extended network. You can also skip assigning a new name by clicking on Clone Settings to use the same security key and a similar Network ID of your Home wireless network
  4. Click on the new network name and security key of the extender network to get connected to the extended wireless network.

Let the amped wireless range extender reboot following the proper extender setup for reliable and successful connection.

Ensure that your extender is connected to the power supply and connected to the computer securely.

  8. Click on upload for amped extender firmware upgrade.

  9. Following the firmware upgrade, your amped Wi-Fi Range Extender will reboot.

  10. The firmware of the extender will now be updated.

The Amped wireless range extender can be reset back to its genuine factory state through either of the two methods listed below.

  • Resetting through the reset button

  • Resetting via the range extender interface via setup.ampedwireless.com

Amped wireless range extender reset through the reset button:

  • Press and hold the reset button located on the bottom of the amped Range Extender for 5-10 seconds while your extender is connected to the power.

  • Release the button after few seconds, and the extender settings will be reset to factory defaults.

By resetting the Range Extender to its factory default settings, all the previously configured settings will be erased and you will need to run the Smart Wizard again to reconnect to a Home Network via setup.ampedwireless.com.

Resetting via the range extender interface via setup.ampedwireless.com:

  1. Open any web browser like Chrome or Safari of the latest version for Amped wireless range extender login using the setup.ampedwireless.com login.

  2. Enter the web address for default login setup.ampedwireless.com in the address bar of the web browser to access the Dashboard of the amped wireless range extender after login.

  3. Note: in case you are unable to access the web menu or dashboard of the amped extender through setup.ampedwireless.com login, you can try to login through the default IP address http://192.168.1.240.

  4. On the web menu of the amped wireless extender, click on More Settings then click Management.

  5. Click on factory reset, and the extender will reset to factory defaults.

  6. Allow the extender to reboot to complete the settings.

By resetting the Range Extender to its factory default settings, all the previously configured settings will be erased and you will need to run the Smart Wizard again by amped wireless range extender setup to reconnect to a Home Network via setup.ampedwireless.com.

Enabling Access Schedule on Amped wireless range extender

You can set a schedule for using the extended network through your amped extender for when your Wi-Fi is enabled or disabled (for both Home Network and the Extended Network) through the Access Schedule feature using the following steps:

  1. Open any web browser like Chrome or Safari of the latest version for Amped wireless range extender login using the setup.ampedwireless.com login.

  2. Enter the web address for default login setup.ampedwireless.com in the address bar of the web browser to access the Dashboard of the amped wireless range extender after login.

  3. Note: in case you are unable to access the web menu or dashboard of the amped extender through setup.ampedwireless.com login, you can try to login through the default IP address http://192.168.1.240.

  4. On the web menu of the amped wireless extender, click on Wi-Fi settings

  5. Enable Access Schedule.

  6. Select the required days for which you wish for your Wi-Fi to be available.

  7. Also, select the time frame during that specific day for your Wi-Fi to be available.

  8. Apply Changes and save the settings.

Enabling Access Schedule on the extended network will also disable internet access for wired network connections on those specified days on access scheduling.
